November 2015 President's Message
As this goes to press, the bass and blue fishing is even quieter than usual. As most of you know, I am recently back from the Martha’s Vineyard Derby, and who would have thought that I would catch more false albacore than striped bass?? The derby had 3,200 entrants, and from what I saw, everybody had a great time.
The One-Day Derby in September run by Terry Tessein and Bill Dulude was a great success! I understand that everyone had a wonderful time!
We had eighty people at the October Fish Supper. The crew put out a wonderful meal, as always. Unfortunately, our worker numbers were down, which brings me to my next topic.
I appointed a nominating committee for our 2016 elections. Barry Sullivan is the chairman, and Bruce MacLeod and George Ford will serve with him. I have one year left as president. Vice-president Joe Giannetti has a lot going on, so the vice-presidency could be open. Bill Dulude is in the process of resigning as treasurer. Lou MacKeil, environmental VP, and Steve Israelian, board of directors, have both indicated that they will run for re-election. This would be a good time for anyone interested in the welfare of the club to consider running for one of these positions or taking over the membership chairman or the advertising chairman. The current respective chairs, Paul Stankus and Steve Israelian, have both made it clear that they have to step down from these positions. If you are interested in a chairmanship, please send me an email. If you are interested in running for any of the officers’ positions, please contact any of the three committee members -- Barry Sullivan (508 385-8849), George Ford (508 420-0585), or Bruce MacLeod (508 394-5326). The club needs change – new people, new ideas -- and this would be a great year to get involved.
After the election at the December meeting, the next big event is the Annual Awards Banquet on March 12. Remember that you do not have to be receiving an award to go. It’s a great night to socialize with others, and we have wonderful raffle prizes and door prizes.
Thanks, and hold tight!

Junior member, Greg Dardia, landed this nice Bluefish at a beach near Osterville early in October. Greg caught the fish using a live Pogy.
