Invited Speaker - John Chisholm
A thorough summary of the Shark Research Program was presented by John Chisholm of Mass Marine Fisheries. Information was centered on the Shark tagging project in our Chatham and nearby waters. Telemetry particulars included tag count, tagging methodology, and tagging results were communicated. A highlight of the talk were slides and a video of “Saltie," one of the tracked sharks in the study.

At the end of the presentation, the club presented John with
a donation of $1000. To help with further study. Hopefully next year John will
return with the lasted information on “Saltie” and maybe even “Saltie2."
Informational Session - Bucktailing
Terry
Tessein led a presentation which outlined “bucktailing” as covered in John
Skinner’s book “Fishing the Bucktail." The basis of the presentation was
that your bucktail is not jigged but retrieved like a fishing plug. The
different variables that come into play to get your bucktail into the striped
bass’s strike zone were also presented along with colors and the use of extra
tails. Lots of great feedback on this class, as the information was valuable to
all, especially newer members.
We are planning to have informational segments like this at regular
meetings that will provide our members with tips and techniques, plus other
valuable fishing information. The November topic will be “Braid – The Good News
and the Bad News."
